Statement of Faith

“I am the vine, you are the branches. He who abides in Me, and I in him, bears much fruit.” - John 15:5

At Crossroads we believe:

The Bible: Given by God, not man (2 Peter 1:20-21; 2 Timothy 3:16). Inspired, infallible, authoritative. The Word reads us (Hebrews 4:12). Every book of the Bible, from Genesis to Revelation, is about Jesus.

The Trinity: There is only One true God, eternally existing in three Persons: Father, Son and Holy Spirit (Matthew 28:19; Ephesians 4:4-6; 1 Corinthians 8:6; 2 Corinthians 13:14).

Jesus Christ: Jesus is the Word made flesh (John 1:14). He was born of a virgin and lived on this earth as fully God and fully man (Matthew 1:18-25; Luke 1:26-28). He is the exact representation of God (John 1:18) and lived fully surrendered to God’s will (John 5:19; John 6:39). Jesus, who knew no sin, became sin on the Cross so that we could become the righteousness of God (2 Corinthians 5:21). Through His death, burial and resurrection, we have been reconciled to God and sin has lost its power over us. Jesus is the only way to God (John 14:6) and in Him alone, we have eternal life (John 17:3).

Sin: Adam and Eve were created in the image of God and had unbroken fellowship with Him in the Garden of Eden (Genesis 1:27; Genesis 2). Their one act of disobedience brought about the fall of mankind (Genesis 3). Our nature became corrupted by sin, death entered the world (Romans 5:12), we died spiritually (Genesis 2:17), our fellowship with God was broken (Genesis 3:8-10) and our dominion over the earth was lost resulting in mankind becoming enslaved to the devil.

Salvation:  Human nature is corrupted and therefore, unable to please a holy God (Romans 3:23). But, without the shedding of blood, there can be no remission of sin (Hebrews 9:22). So, because of God’s great love for us, He sent His only begotten Son, Jesus, to be the atoning sacrifice for our sins by shedding His blood on the Cross to set us free from the curse of sin and death (Romans 5:12-21; Ephesians 2:1-5; 1 John 2:2). The free gift of salvation and adoption into the family of God is available to all people if you repent of your sin, confess with your mouth, and believe in your heart that Jesus Christ is Lord (John 3:16; Ephesians 2:8-9; Acts 3:19; 1 John 1:19;  Acts 4:12; Romans 1:16). The Father draws mankind to Jesus (John 6:44) and the Holy Spirit brings conviction and regenerates our spirits (John 16:8; Titus 3:4-7).

The Holy Spirit: The Holy Spirit is the Presence of God on the earth, convicting the world of sin, righteousness and judgment (John 16:8). Upon salvation, the Holy Spirit bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God (Romans 8:16). He indwells (John 14:17), renews (Titus 3:5) and sanctifies (1 Peter 1:2) the believer, who is a temple of the Holy Spirit, (Acts 2:38; 1 Corinthians 6:19) and seals each person until the day of redemption (Ephesians 4:30). Through the power of the Holy Spirit every believer can walk in love and obey God’s commands, fulfilling the Great Commandment (Mark 12:28-34) and bear fruit for God’s glory, fulfilling the Great Commission (Matthew 28:18-20). He is our Teacher (John 14:26) and leads us into all Truth (John 16:13). The Holy Spirit helps each believer pray the will of God (Romans 8:26-27) and empowers us to be witness for God’s kingdom (Acts 1:8). There are nine fruits of the Spirit (Galatians 5:22-23) and nine gifts of the Spirit (1 Corinthians 12:1-31).

The Church: Jesus Christ is the Head of the Church, also known as the “body of Christ” (Colossians 1:18; Romans 12:15; 1 Corinthians 12:12; ), which consists of all people, who by faith, have put their trust in Him. God has called His people to meet together regularly for fellowship and encouragement (Hebrews 10:24-25), worship, edification through the scriptures (Colossians 3:16), prayer (Acts 2:42), and participation in ordinances (Luke 22:14-20; Matthew 28:19-20). As God’s delegated authority on the earth, the Church is called to advance His kingdom by preaching the Gospel, discipling nations, undoing the works of the enemy, and laying hands on the sick (Mark 16:15-18; Matthew 28:18-20; Luke 9:1-2). As the Church we are farmers, harvesting souls according to Mark 16, at times reaping the bumper crop of revival; and we are ambassadors, representing the will of God as we disciple nations according to Matthew 28, reforming them to His ways and principles.

The Second Coming: Jesus Christ will return to the earth for His overcoming bride (the Church) at a time only the Father knows (John 14:1-3; Mark 13:32-33; Matthew 24:36). We must be prepared for His glorious return by living righteously and advancing His kingdom on the earth as He is coming back for a victorious Church (Titus 2:11-14)! Every person will be judged by God and will spend eternity in either Heaven or Hell (2 Thessalonians 1:5-10). Christ will return to the earth after the Spirit-blessed Gospel has had overwhelming success in bringing the world to the adoption of Christianity.
